Bernie Sanders, the current US Democratic Party front-runner ahead of the presidential election, publicly stated that he would not attend the AIPAC conference on the basis the group provides a platform for “leaders who express bigotry and oppose basic Palestinian rights.”

AIPAC hit back hard at Sanders, calling his statement “truly shameful” and slams him for “odious attack on this mainstream, bipartisan American political event”

Sanders followed Elizabeth Warren’s stance to boycott AIPAC earlier this month, an unprecedent move for any Democratic party presidential nominee. However, there is no comment from AIPAC on Warren’s stance.

Nor has Warren attracted public criticism from the likes of Ted Cruz, Nikki Haley and other high profile US political voices like Sanders has.

However, AIPAC is losing support among the increasingly progressive grassroots that is dominating Democratic Party politics in the past decade. However, this is translating into more and more political voices calling AIPAC out for its hateful agenda.

Meanwhile, BJP leader, BL Santhosh, stated that Sander’s criticism on Trump staying silent on the anti-Muslim mob violence in Delhi would “compel” Indians to “play a role” in the 2020 Presidential elections.

Santosh has recently deleted his tweet.

It is not the first time BJP has undue influence in foreign elections. Recently in the 2019 UK elections, many voices expressed concern of how BJP followers campaigned for the Conservative party and using charity platforms in ways that possibly broke Electoral Law.

Similarly, in the US, many US citizens of Indian decent increasingly share the worldview of the BJP, where Kashmir is usually the focal point. No doubt, both Israel and India will mobilise what they can to ensure Sanders too faces political downfall, just like Corbyn.
