ZeeNews & AajTaks’ Hindutva Rhetoric Feeds Off Modi’s BJP Extremist Ideology

Indian mainstream media outlets such as Zee News and Aaj Tak’s Islamophobic rhetoric is taking its cue directly from Prime Minister Modi’s campaign of hateful inflammation & malicious intent aimed at Muslims, Sikhs and minority Hindu groups.

With the rise of India’s ultra-right nationalistic government,  the assault on non-Hindus has increased to alarming levels and continues to worsen. The rise and subsequent normalisation of Islamophobia is the direct result of the Modi’s Nazi inspired BJP. Having taken a leaf out of the Zionist playbook the party wants to create a racist state purely for Hindus and is flexing its power to do so. It has emboldened hard right fascists in supporting media channels such as Zee News and AajTak. Public Murders, public lynching, police and military brutality and war crimes in Kashmir are now the norm, yet western powers have decided to turn a blind eye to these and hypocritically continue to support the Hitler wannabe Modi for no apparent reason other than economic greed. State sponsored programmes of extremism and terrorism are acceptable despite the open genocidal policies of the current Indian administration.

Their relentless propaganda against Muslims and blatant hate crimes have now spread beyond India’s borders as their extremist views are being espoused by their TV stations all across the world inciting divisions between Muslims and Hindus across the Middle East and The West. This isn’t the first time either that hate channels from India have been allowed to disseminate their vile propaganda on UK airspace.

The recent race riots in Leicester are a culmination of this hatred and xenophobia which is being allowed to fester unchecked, despite broadcast laws being in place. Muslim hating Hindutva mobs are using intimidating and coercive tactics to suppress any perceived political criticism of the BJP. The review into the riots being a case in point where Dr. Chris Allen, an expert into hate crimes, and the person leading the review  – was forced to step down from the endeavour due to the unwarranted levels of abuse he and his team had received.

With Rishi Sunak now in an unelected position of power and openly supporting the extremist regime in India, the Hindutva Mobs have taken to brazenly attacking Muslim organisations in the UK.

MPACUK were attacked with a co-ordinated hit piece and smear campaign by two mainstream Indian news channels (Zee News and AajTak’s) attempting to silence any criticism of Sunak. They are intentionally conflating any valid criticism from Muslims as being anti-Hindu and are trying to cause divisions and brew anti-Muslim hatred in the general Hindu community by using lies and selective quotes twisted and misrepresented out of all proportion.

The vicious and vile attack which they published on their respective YouTube Channels is here for everyone to see.

This is only the latest in a line of attacks on Muslims by these media channels as you can see from some of the article screenshots that appear below the line.

Aaj Tak – Owned by Arun Purie’s India Today Group, has three of the worst Islamophobic anchors in the Indian media — Anjana Om Kashyap, Rohit Sardana and Sweta Singh. They are notorious for their vitriolic attacks against Muslims and spreading communal hatred. They routinely indulge in Muslim bashing, while showing deferential surrender to anything the BJP does.

India Today (English) Also owned by Purie’s India Today Group with main anchors Rajdeep Sardesai and Rahul Kanwal. Rajdeep is mildly anti-BJP and slightly critical of Modi. Rahul Kanwal in 2020 became a full-time supporter of Modi, BJP & RSS and its hateful ideology after a punishment for being openly critical of Modi.

The Conservative administration were very quick to ban foreign media channels such as Press TV and RT, channels such as Zee News and Aaj Tak are mouthpieces of a government that has a genocidal consensus not only against Muslims, but also Sikhs and minority Hindu groups such as Dalits.

We urge you all to take the following steps:

  1. Contact The RT Hon Michelle Donelan MP, who is the current Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
  2. Contact OFCOM and register a complaint with the broadcasting regulator.
  3. Fund us to continue to fight on your behalf.
  4. Volunteer with us and join our networks.

The Government and its Departments for Media as well as the regulators cannot ignore this Hindutva inspired extremism rising any further. Express your disgust as to why such hatred is being allowed to be beamed into the UK, putting almost a century of goodwill and community cohesion amongst the Asian community at risk. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has to disavow the Hindutva ideology that he curries favour to and to call a general election. The time to apply concerted political pressure is now, you cannot delay!
