Action Alert! Tell Labour Islamophobia Can’t Be Ignored!
A few weeks ago MPACUK helped expose the shocking case of the former Lord Mayor of Manchester who accused a local Muslim activist of being an ISIS sleeper cell, simply for organising an event called ‘Remember the Children of Gaza’.
The former Mayor and Labour councillor, Mark Hackett, abused and intimidated his Muslim victim, according to the Council’s own official report… yet so far neither the Council nor the Labour party has taken any disciplinary measures against Councillor Hackett – more than a year after the misconduct took place!
While the Council seems determined to kick this into the long grass, simply stating that the case is “subject to an ongoing process” (for more than a year!?), Labour HQ has so far ignored all enquiries.
Contact the Labour Party now and ask them to make it clear that the party will not tolerate Islamophobia:

Tweet: @UKLabour
And contact those responsible for diversity and faith groups within Labour:

Labour Black Asian Minority Ethnic: @LabourBAME (on FB too)
Faith groups envoy: @stephenctimms (on FB too)
Points to include:
- If the Labour Party allow such blatantly Islamophobic behaviour then it is a green light for Muslims to face abuse and intimidation with no consequences
- The failure to take prompt action in this case where the victim is a Muslim seems to show double standards when compared with other cases* where prompt, decisive action has been taken against those accused of wrong-doing
- If the Labour Party is to win back Muslim voters who turned away from the party after the Iraq War then it must show that the wider party can live up to the example of its new leader in standing against Islamophobia.
* Double Standards Anyone??
- Meanwhile Britain’s first female Muslim Lord Mayor has just been suspended by the Labour Party while it investigates allegations of misconduct…
- Earlier this year a Labour councillor was suspended for retweeting an image that compared Tory policies to the Holocaust
- Also this year a Labour councillor was suspended for a Facebook comment about Jews
- Even UKIP immediately expelled an activist who was caught on film making racist remarks about black people!
- And of course the most sure fire way for any politician to end up facing disciplinary action is to upset the pro-Israel lobby – remember what happened to Jenny Tonge and David Ward…?
