5 Things You Can Do to Help Palestine
1) Media Action
– Use Social Media to help get the truth out – pictures, videos, comments, articles…
– lobby the mainstream media – complain about biased coverage, thank those who dare to expose Israel’s crimes, post your comments under articles, call in to radio discussions.
2) Political Action
– Write to your MP about Israel’s human rights abuses and violations of International Law. Ask them to raise the issue in Parliament and to support an arms embargo and sanctions. Also, ask them to stop the new law that would prevent local councils from boycotting Israel.
– Join a political party and get active promoting support for Palestinian rights within it
– Get active in your trade union supporting solidarity with Palestine
3) Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions
– Boycotting is effective if you do it as part of an organised mass campaign, so get active in the movement! More info here – https://www.bdsmovement.net/
– think local, and international too! Campaign for your local council to adopt BDS as policy (like in Leicester).
– Write to your MEP to demand that the EU suspend the EU-Israel trade agreement (in accordance with the human rights rules within it!) More info here – link
4) Fund the Movement
– The pro-Israel lobby is one of the best funded and most effective political movements ever. But the British Muslim community which raises well over £100 million a year in charity spends practically nothing on political action to defend the lives and human rights of Muslims. Effective, professional campaigning and lobbying costs money! Donate to fund the political movement for justice now.
5) Activate Others
This is VITAL to build a mass movement to fight for justice!
– Get all your family and friends to take the actions above too
– Ask your mosque, Islamic Society, Muslim group, study circle etc to mobilise the community to take these actions, and to get active and organised campaigning for the human rights of our brothers and sisters.
