Freedom Flotilla Bombed: British Citizens Become Victims of Israel’s War Crimes
Israel commits a war crime against British citizens as the Freedom Flotilla is bombed.
May 2nd 2025: A ship carrying food and medicine to the starving population of Gaza, manned by humanitarian workers is bombed by suspected Israeli drones just off the coast of Malta. This attack constitutes a war crime as Israel blocks even a drop of water from reaching the starving people in Gaza.
The Freedom Flotilla boat was attempting to break the siege of Gaza. No food or water has reached the Gazan people for 60 days. The situation is dire as images of malnourished Palestinian children show all too clearly, some children have already died due to this Israeli made famine.
Despite this shocking attack occurring in international waters just off the coast of Malta, the ship’s SOS distress signal was ignored for hours until groups like ours urged citizens to contact the UN, the UK Foreign secretary and the Maltese government to act. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the Maltese government have refused to allow repair and onward passage of the ship.
This is not the first time a humanitarian ship attempting to deliver aid to a besieged people of Gaza has been attacked. Tragically, ten aid workers were shot and killed by Israeli soldiers onboard the Mavi Marmara in 2009 when it tried to bring food and medicine to Gaza. Such attacks against peace activists have been ongoing during the Israeli occupation with no interest and little coverage from the complicit western media.
Sister Yvonne Ridley, journalist and British citizen was aboard the Freedom Flotilla ship when it was attacked. Yet, we’ve seen no condemnation of the bombing by the UK government. Israel, not only has complete impunity to bomb and starve Gaza but also to attack British citizens without censure from our own government.
If you care about Gaza, action the alert we posted, boycott, write to your MP to and demand sanctions on Israel and a statement of condemnation on the Freedom Flotilla attack.
