The Missing Ukrainian Child Refugees

They came here to escape bombs from falling on their heads.  Escaping a war which they had nothing to do with.  They were civilians fleeing to our country for safety.  They came with their children.  Men, women, children struggled to get here, many walked for hundreds of miles, leaving behind a life which they knew.  It wasn’t perfect, but it was a place they could call home.

So in England they now settle.  Children are learning to live in their new homes, where they can sleep without fear that they will wake up buried in rubble.  That they won’t wake from the sirens of war.  The sirens that told them to run but not where to run to.

So they came here to escape war, fear and to live in safety.

But now, their children are disappearing.  200 children have been reported as missing. The Home Office Minister has admitted to the Government’s failings.  Imagine that the very agencies that are tasked with providing these children with security and protection in a new and strange country having no idea where two hundred children now are.

What crime did the children commit?

Actually they weren’t Ukrainians.

Still shocked that the Government let them down?

No, this is what we expect from a Government and Media that prefers white “civilised” refugees.

Why is that though?

Why have we become desensitised to brown/black refugees seeking sanctuary?

Why have we become desensitised to Muslim refugees when it is British foreign policy that has turned them from civilians living in their own country, to refugees living in the UK?

Is it because of race or religion?  Yes we know that’s the case and it’s disgusting.

We need to challenge the narrative of Western Media and Government so that they recognise black and brown refugees as people.  It’s blatantly obvious, All Lives don’t Matter.

Isn’t it high-time that YOU decided that enough is enough?!
