Imran Khan Declares ‘Britishers Cunningly Destroyed Our Education System’
Speaking at an award ceremony for seminary students in Islamabad on Wednesday, Imran Khan, made great emphasis on the past attitudes of education in the field of education and how that was degraded by the British, particularly under colonialism.
He said Islam has laid special emphasis on education and that Muslims are weak today mainly due to lack of education. He also said that the British rulers intentionally put an end to the Muslims’ system of education.
“Islam grilled into minds that without education, a society can not progress. For 700 years, all top scientists were Muslims,” he recalled.
Khan also talked about his plans for educational reform he says are geared towards creating social harmony.
“Reforms are being introduced in the education system, which will help uplift the lower strata of the society with the provision of equal opportunities to progress”.
He went on to say that the three current educational systems have caused division in Pakistan, leading to injustices across society.
Khan’s ideas includes a uniform curriculum is being designed so that all graduates have equal opportunities to grow in their practical life. He also assured that the graduates of the new education system will have an understanding of religion, contemporary knowledge and science and technology.
