Former Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, published an article calling Muslim women who wear niqab “letterboxes” and “bank robbers”.

Since, there has been outrage from several Labour MPs, Muslim organisations and mosque leaders.

After continuing pressure, the Conservative Party Chairman and Theresa May has asked Boris to publicly apologise. He has refused.

Yet the real problem is the level of Islamophobia inside the Tory government that is ignored and left unchallenged.

Baroness Warsi has stated Islamophobia is “very widespread” in the party. Hashim Bhatti, Chair of the Conservative Muslim Forum Youth Wing said, “Islamophobia in my party goes beyond Boris Johnson”.

Boris knows Islamophobia is widespread within the party. He is wooing them in a bid to become leader of the ruling party.

There now increasing calls for Boris to be expelled from the party.

The Tory party is choosing to be in denial. We need to send a message and add pressure on them.

• Increasing evidence of Tory members publicly expressing Islamophobic views
• Demand that a full and in-depth investigation of Islamophobia inside the party to be conducted with the Members Code of Conduct in mind.
