Last night Theresa May ordered UK airstrikes on Syria in co-operation with the US and France.

Her stated reason was because of alleged chemical attack by the Syrian regime on Syrian civilians.

MPACUK spokesperson, Imran Shah, said:

“For a Prime Minister that has done everything in her power to not take in Syrian refugees into the UK, and claim now that she is ordering airstrikes to help Syrian civilians is absurd and hypocritical.

In addition, just simply bombing, without Parliamentary approval and a wider strategic plan, shows the current UK government is desperate and reactionary. It will not stop Assad killing his civilians by other means and may even cause more civilians to needlessly die from Western bombs.

The only ones who benefit from this are arms companies and Assad’s regime itself”
