Ramadan through History – The Qur’an is Revealed and the World is Never the Same Again

Throughout Ramadan we are publishing articles about historical moments that took place in this blessed month. We present to you the revelation of the Qur’an – revealed in the month of Ramadan, this Divine Book changed history and to this day still changes people’s hearts and minds for the better.
“It was in the month of Ramadan that the Qur’an was revealed as guidance for mankind, clear messages giving guidance and distinguishing between right and wrong.”
The Holy Qur’an, Surah Baqarah (Chapter 2), Verse 185
Here at MPACUK we thought we would start our ‘Ramadan through History’ series with an article about the Qur’an, because it is the guiding light for all Muslims, and there is no better way to start the series, and this month, than a reflection on this Divine Book.
The Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the month of Ramadan. It is a Divine scripture that to this day makes people marvel at its style and message. People are moved to tears when it is recited as its message is a call for justice within ourselves and in society.
It is a scripture which has changed society – for the oppressed it gives glad tidings of an ease to their suffering, for the oppressors a warning to mend their ways, for the believers it is a source of strength which they turn to for answers and guidance.
Whether you look at the Qur’an as just a book, or as a revelation from Allah, you realise that there is nothing else like it. And we need to act on its message more than ever before.
During Ramadan the Qur’an is recited in the long nightly prayers (Tarawih) and generally throughout the day and constantly Allah reminds mankind to reflect, to do good to one another (especially the oppressed) and seek to be better.
It is a message we need to act on today.
As we go through these tumultuous times that face Muslims here and abroad, we need to act on the world of the Qur’an that remind us to be a voice for the oppressed, to stand against injustice, to help those in need.
There’s nothing more to say really apart from, please read, reflect and act on these beautiful words from the Qur’an:
