Shaykh Sulaiman Ghani is urging Muslims to action MPACUK’s latest alert to get MPs to sign a Parliamentary Motion calling for an end to the draconian Prevent strategy.

Shaykh Sulaiman, a well known activist and scholar in the Muslim community, said:

“The Prevent strategy has had such a negative impact on our community which is why I am urging Muslims to action MPACUK’s alert and get their MPs to sign the Early Day Motion calling for Prevent to be scrapped.”

The Early Day Motion (EDM) was submitted by the Liberal Democrat MP, Alistair Carmichael, who is calling to “scrap the Prevent strategy in its entirety”.

The EDM also notes that Prevent is “no longer fit for purpose” and “that the British Muslim community has been particularly stigmatised by Prevent”.

Get your MP to support and sign EDM 425. Even though EDMs are not always debated in Parliament, signing this one will help draw attention to how strongly Muslims feel about Prevent and that we are demanding our MPs represent us properly on this issue.

2) Share this Action Alert with your family friends – if more people contact their MPs it puts pressure on them to publicly come out against Prevent.

3) If your MP refuses to sign then tell MPACUK so that we can publicly name and shame them (and send messages of support and praise to those who do sign the EDM)
