MPACUK’s Facebook page & spokesman, Raza Nadim, have been banned from Facebook for a post criticising Israel.

The post, below, was removed by Facebook for violating their so-called “Community Standards”.

The post contains a quote from musician Roger Water, of Pink Floyd, and a comment that is critical of Israel’s atrocities.

Raza Nadim has been banned for 24 hours whilst other MPACUK Facebook administrators have been banned for other arbitrary lengths – some as long as 30 days.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg has recently said that they are open to working with governments and agencies to “help prevent different types of attacks” – does this mean that they will silence those that are seen as a threat?

Others have also highlighted how Facebook has censored cartoons critical of Israel.

What makes Facebook’s reaction to anti-Israel comments even more surprising is that campaigns to close down rape joke pages are dismissed on the basis that Facebook is “a place where people can openly discuss issues and express their views”.

Funny how that doesn’t apply to issues and views when it comes to Israel, eh?

Speaking to 5Pillars, Raza Nadim said:

“I am outraged that once again we see Facebook silencing pro-Palestinian voices and Muslim activists. There is nothing about that quote in the post or the post itself that could possibly violate any of Facebook so-called ‘Community Standards.’ We have seen extremely racist, grotesque and Islamophobic things on Facebook that are never taken down, even after public pressure, but anything that is remotely critical of Israel is clamped down on.

“I have been targeted in the past by Zionists, as have others, but I have had enough. The MPACUK team will be organising a campaign about this and would urge others who have similar run ins with Facebook to get in touch with us.”
