Action Alert! Contact IPSO & Companies that advertise with 'The Sun' to condemn the paper's lies
On Monday 23rd November, The Sun newspaper had this story on their front page:
This is apparently based on a poll that was commissioned by The Sun.
But the article, and the way the poll results have been manipulated, have been widely discredited.
These kind of articles and headlines only lead to more hate against Muslims which has far too often spilled over into physical violence – especially since the attacks in Paris.
ACT NOW
Complain to the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) about The Sun. Email – inquiries@ipso.co.uk (Twitter – @IpsoNews)
Contact companies that advertise with The Sun to:
- Publicly condemn The Sun’s misrepresentation of the survey results
- Contact The Sun expressing their concerns about the low journalistic standards
Include the following points when contacting these companies, and ask them to raise these points too when they contact The Sun:
- The survey did not mention ‘jihadis’ at all
- The Sun is manipulating the figures to show the Muslim community in a bad light
- The number is no different to what non-Muslims said in a survey, which found that 1 in 3 were sympathetic towards people who travel to fight in Syria – yet The Sun has presented this as something only to do with Muslims, which only fuels for bigotry.
