You ever notice how the world will boycott a shampoo brand faster than it’ll boycott a government carpet bombing a refugee camp?

Because nothing says music unites us all like letting a country committing war crimes take the stage in a glitter covered arena while belting out a song about peace, love and definitely-not-bombing-anyone vibe.

Yeah…….Welcome to Eurovision 2026!

So this week, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands and Slovenia all said,

“You know what? Eurovion 2026, Nah. We’re out.”

And honestly, good for them.

Sometimes you have to step away from the Eurovision disco ball, look into the glowing light of humanity, and say:

“We cannot morally justify harmonising onstage while children are being slaughtered.”

Which, by the way, is a very normal sentence in 2025, because the world is a parody of itself.

Israel’s participation is pretty much the glitter coated turd in the room, let’s be real, by the time you’ve read this, Israel’s government would have bulldozed a children’s nursery on Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) would be like:

“Welcome to Eurovision — where politics have NO PLACE on stage!

(except when we choose to ignore them.)”

It’s like inviting a paedophile to a child safeguading convention and then being offended when people complain.

And the pro-Israel pundits yelling:

“Eurovision is about unity!”

Unity requires that the people you’re uniting aren’t actively being bombed by a bunch of genocidal meglomaniacs and being cheerled by our government.

Cultural boycotts are not new, they’re not extreme, they’re just effective and everybody’s suddenly like:

“But is a cultural boycott fair? Is it appropriate?”

Excuse me, and now you dunces sat at the back of the class, pay attention – that’s literally how apartheid South Africa got pressured.

Musicians refused to perform.

Actors refused to film.

Athletes refused to play.

The world said:

“If you want to participate in society, stop oppressing people.”

Simple formula.

Not complicated.

Not rocket science.

Just basic human decency dressed up as international policy.

But the moment someone even whispers boycott around Israel’s policies, Eurovision clutches its pearls like a MAGA widow:

“HOW DARE YOU POLITICISE THIS EVENT.”

Bruh…

Eurovision is already political and it always has been.

Half the points come from alliances, grudges and who stole whose islands in 1841.

Cultural boycotts matter because the world keeps pretending politics and culture aren’t connected. But every dictator, every oppressive government, every apartheid regime knows the truth that culture is legitimacy.

If you can dance onstage in sequins, the world forgets what you’re doing offstage.

A boycott says:

“We see what you’re doing and you can’t vibe your way out of this one.”

Israel don’t get to have a platform where they get to say “sorry (not sorry) about your whole situation, but we gotta get these power ballads about peace and love out there!”

Eurovision and those wielding the sword of its soft culture power want it to be a bubble where war, suffering and reality don’t exist.

But Palestinians who are being bombed with the most advanced weaponry in the world, being made right here in Britain don’t get to take a break from the politics of that sword being swung.

So why should the people doing the bombing get a musical vacation?

Boycott is not about silencing music, it’s about refusing to dance along with injustice.

Until Israel ends its apartheid inspired genocidal policies and the industrial scale, mechanised slaughter in Palestine, Europe can keep its shiny lights. Palestine needs justice more than Eurovision needs viewers.
