ACTION ALERT: DEMAND THE UK GOVT PUTS PRESSURE ON SRI LANKA TO ALLOW BURIALS OF COVID-19 DEATHS OF MUSLIMS
Since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sri Lankan government and local authorities have paid no attention to the request of their Muslim citizens to bury, instead of cremate, those who have died due to COVID-19.
Cremation is a religious violation for Muslims and the official advice states that normal burial for COVID-19 deaths will suffice. Â
However, despite pleas from Sri Lankan Muslims, authorities have insisted on cremating bodies with complete disregard for view of Muslim families.
Muslims in Sri Lanka, as a result, are no longer seeking medical assistance out of fear that if they are flagged up on the system, their body may be cremated against their will if they should die.
This treatment of Muslims is entirely Islamophobic and unnecessary.
