Imran Khan – He Won’t Give Up
In 2018 , Pakistan democratically elected a new Prime Minister, Imran Khan as head of the PTI party (translated as the Pakistani Party of Justice). He gave the people a new hope that Pakistan would be a prosperous and stable state with opportunities and rights for all people, the minorities and the oft forgotten poor.
However, his political term was short lived as in 2022, the “Pakistani mafia”, as Khan refers to them as, carried out what seemed like an American order to oust him. Imran Khan, along with his wife and many other members of the PTI were imprisoned as political prisoners on bogus charges.
Not surprisingly, there wasn’t even a peep of protest from any leader in the West. They like to bomb “democracy” into countries , but show no support when a democratically elected leader of a Muslim state gets thrown into prison.
Just imagine if Putin gave orders to the opposition of Zelensky to overthrow and imprison Zelensky. The West would definitely be calling for sanctions against Russia, quite rightly. However when it comes to Imran Khan and Pakistan. They choose to look the other way.
Imran Khan was a staunch speaker against Islamophobia, and he never accepted any deals to normalise relations with Israel. This is why he is imprisoned with acceptance of the West.
A few days ago, Khan’s sister, Uzma Khan, confirmed that Imran Khan was alive but mentally tortured in Prison.
It’s time to ask questions about democracy to the UK Government. Does it support Muslim democratic states or only when they conform and act like slaves to their Western colonial masters?
Email Yvette Cooper (UK Secretary of State for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office) and ask why this country has turned its back on democracy in Pakistan.
