The Farewell Sermon is not just a historical speech, it is the Prophet’s (ﷺ) final guidance, a timeless framework. Yet, today, many of its central teachings are neglected, and the Muslim Ummah stands as a witness to its own contradictions.

The Prophet (ﷺ) declared:
“Indeed, your blood, your wealth, and your honour are sacred…” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)

Yet, Innocent blood is shed daily in Gaza, Kashmir, Yemen to name a few, with no unified voice from the Muslim world to end the oppression.

Muslim leaders and institutions have failed to defend the oppressed or even speak the truth, despite the Prophet’s command:
“The best jihad is to speak a word of truth to a tyrant ruler.” (Abu Dawud)

The Prophet (ﷺ) once turned to the Ka‘bah and said:
“How great you are and how great is your sanctity! But the sanctity of a believer’s blood is greater with Allah than yours.”

The irony is painful: while Muslims perform Hajj, circumambulating the Ka‘bah, children are buried under rubble. While millions are raising their hands before the Ka‘bah, babies are dying under siege in Gaza. Prayers in Mecca and our masajids are bing offered in comfort, while others are bombed during sujood.

Muslim nations trade interests for silence.

Religious rituals are being performed without spiritual responsibility, while ignoring the Quranic and Prophetic call to justice.

The Prophet (ﷺ) warned:
“I leave behind me two things: the Qur’an and my Sunnah…”
and in another narration, “…and my Ahl al-Bayt. If you hold fast to them, you will never go astray.”

But today, division and sectarianism cloud our judgment. Love for the Prophet’s family (Ahl al-Bayt) is abandoned or politicized, while their legacy of truth and resistance against tyranny is forgotten.

The very sermon given at Arafah, calling for unity, justice, truth, and human dignity, is being recited in Arabic while its message is buried in silence.
