As World War III escalates, the joint US-Israeli military assault on Iran has set the Middle East ablaze. But behind the smokescreen of nuclear fear-mongering, “regional stability” and counterterrorism rhetoric lies a far more raw and inconvenient truth: this war is about Palestine.

Sorry to burst your sectarian bubble that makes you believe Sunni good / Shia bad; Iran has long stood as the loudest and most uncompromising voice for Palestinian resistance. Where other nations signed “peace deals” and normalised ties with Israel, Iran funnelled logistical support to groups resisting occupation and apartheid. This resistance came at a cost: sanctions, isolation, and now, open war.

Make no mistake, this isn’t about nukes. This is about dismantling a regional power that refuses to bow to Israel, refuses to stay silent while Gaza is starved and bombed. The war on Iran is a war on Palestinian solidarity.

As morally bankrupt Arab monarchies hosted tech summits and arms expos with Israeli companies, Iran and Yemen’s Ansar Allah (Houthis) actually acted. While most Sunni led states issued bland statements or prioritised arms deals, it was the Houthis who shut down Red Sea shipping in protest of Gaza’s siege. It was Iran that kept funding and supporting resistance factions despite crippling sanctions and international pressure.

The irony is striking: in an Arab world supposedly united by religion, it’s the Shia-led nations vilified for decades who have materially and militarily done the most for Palestine. History won’t forget who stood up, and who cashed in.

Once a vocal part of the “Axis of Resistance,” Syria’s current silence speaks volumes. Ahmed Al Sharaa has been conspicuously quiet. No missiles. No speeches. No solidarity. Just silence.

Having survived a brutal civil war, the new western sponsored regime appears more focused on regime preservation than regional justice. Syria is a neutralised actor, more concerned with quiet deals and frozen fronts than confronting Israeli or American aggression. In a time of genocide and escalation, silence is not neutrality, it is betrayal.

As if echoing Washington’s every word, Britain continues to play its all too familiar role as a junior partner in imperial violence. Labour leader Sir “kid starver” Starmer has the audacity to urge Iran to “negotiate.” This, while Britain arms Israel to the teeth, provides actionable military intelligence and remains silent on the assassinations of Iranian scientists and diplomats.

How are you supposed to negotiate when your negotiators are being murdered by drones, saboteurs, or shadowy operations tied to the very governments urging talks?

Perfidious Albion cloaked in diplomacy has been fully complicit in dehumanising Iranians and enabling the slaughter of those extending the olive branch.

What happens when you keep killing the people trying to talk peace?

Eventually, the only ones left are those ready for war.

What we’re witnessing is not a series of isolated strikes or “surgical” operations. This is the global fault line of a new world war. Lines have been drawn: empires on one side, the oppressed and their defenders on the other. From the streets of Gaza to the deserts of Yemen and the cities of Iran, the fires have been lit and are being fuelled.

This is all about Palestine.

Yes, it is also about justice, sovereignty and resistance to a Western led world order that demands obedience and punishes defiance with bombs.

World War III is underway, not with a declaration, but with silence after every massacre. The question isn’t whether it’s happening.
