ACTION ALERT: DEMAND YOUR MP SIGNS PARLIAMENTARY EDM 864

ACTION ALERT!  Demand Your MP Signs Parliamentary EDM 864

Early Day Motion 864 calls for an end to military cooperation and arms trade with Israel and all other trade that aids or assists Israel’s unlawful occupation of Palestine and a ban on all goods from illegal Israeli settlements.

Since 21 January 2025 Israel has launched a major military offensive in the West Bank resulting in the deaths of 71 Palestinians including at least 7 children. Ayman Al-Hemouni aged 12 and Rimas Ammouri aged 13 were both shot in the back by Israeli forces on 21 February.

Over 40,000 Palestinians from the northern West Bank have been ethnically cleansed from their refugee camps.

Israeli forces and settlers co-operated to attack Palestinian communities with homes set ablaze, mosques vandalised and over a thousand livestock killed.

The International Court of Justice ruled in July 2024 that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory is unlawful and that all states have a legal obligation to act to bring it to an end.

Dear [MP’s Name],
(Member of Parliament for [Your Constituency])

I hope this letter finds you well.

I am writing as a concerned constituent regarding Early Day Motion 864, titled “Israel’s military presence in the West Bank,” which was tabled on 27 February 2025.

This EDM raises grave concerns about the intensifying Israeli military operations across the illegally occupied West Bank, including the unprecedented deployment of armoured tanks in Jenin — a level of force not seen since 2002. Since 21 January 2025, this offensive has led to the deaths of at least 51 Palestinians, including at least seven children, and the forced displacement of over 40,000 people from refugee camps in northern West Bank areas.

Particularly distressing are the reports of children, such as Ayman Al-Hemouni (12) and Rimas Ammouri (13), being shot in the back by Israeli forces. Additionally, statements by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz — indicating that key refugee camps have been emptied and calling for preparations for a long-term military presence — point to a deepening crisis.

The situation is exacerbated by settler violence and military assaults on Palestinian communities, including those in Masafer Yatta and occupied East Jerusalem. These attacks have resulted in widespread destruction of homes and vital infrastructure.

It is important to recall the International Court of Justice’s ruling in July 2024, which clearly stated that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory is unlawful and that all states are under a legal obligation not to aid or assist in maintaining this occupation. As a citizen of the UK, I believe our government must uphold international law and human rights.

I therefore urge you, as my elected representative, to support EDM 864 and to push the Government to take meaningful action. This includes:

  • Implementing a ban on all goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements;
  • Ending military cooperation and arms trade with Israel; and
  • Halting all trade that directly or indirectly aids Israel’s unlawful occupation.

Silence and inaction in the face of such violations only contribute to continued suffering and impunity. I trust you will represent the values of justice, human rights, and the rule of law in Parliament.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,
