Don’t March For Palestine

Don’t March For Palestine

Don’t march for Palestine if you’re voting for parties at the general election that enable the genocide of our brothers and sister there.

Those parties that want to talk about any other thing except this.

Those parties that ship weapons to Israel.

Those parties that refuse to call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.

Those parties that deny the genocide.

Those parties that block any sanctions against Israel.

Those parties that refuse to recognise the system of apartheid in Israel where how you’re treated depends on your race.

Those parties that call “peace marches”, “hate marches”.

Those parties that say “it’s OK” to block shipments of water, food and medical supplies and to cut off power to Gaza.

Don’t tell your friends about videos you’ve watched about the slaughter in Gaza or how you saw a father pull his dead child from under the rubble of their house if you can’t be bothered to register to vote and make a difference.

The votes that could stop the shipping of weapons

The votes that could make our country demand a ceasefire

The votes that could stop the genocide

Don’t cry for the Palestinians, not even in private, if you can’t be bothered to vote for justice and peace and instead, continue to ignore the political system that enabled this horror in Gaza or vote for the party you’ve always voted for “just because”.

The votes that could bring in sanctions against Israel

The votes that would help the peace marches

The votes that could help deliver the aid to the Palestinian people

Don’t grieve for the Palestinians if you’ve never recognised that you are part of the solution. Don’t grieve for the orphans, don’t grieve for the injured, don’t grieve for the dead. They don’t need your grief, they need your action.

The action that can stop the killing

The action that can bring peace

The action that can stop apartheid

The action that can bring justice

Don’t think about Palestine if you’ve never spoken out about the injustice that Palestinians face every day of their lives. Your words are too precious, save them in case they run out.

The words that can stop the killing

The words that can bring peace

The words that can stop apartheid

The words that can bring justice

—————————-

O believers! Stand firm for justice as witnesses for Allah even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or close relatives. Be they rich or poor, Allah is best to ensure their interests. So do not let your desires cause you to deviate ˹from justice˺. If you distort the testimony or refuse to give it, then ˹know that˺ Allah is certainly All-Aware of what you do.

Surah An-Nisa
