End corrupt foreign policies & vote for real change!

In a statement issued outside Downing Street in the pouring rain, the UK prime minister, Rishi Sunak stated that he had met with the King to beg that parliament be dissolved. “The King granted this request and the UK will have a general election on the 4th of July“.

But let this general election be one where we finally break free from the clutches of far-right MPs whose policies are marinated in Islamophobia and bigotry. This isn’t just another rallying cry; it’s a demand to end the blatant hypocrisy and corruption that passes for foreign policy. It’s high time we voted strategically and tactfully to elect leaders who won’t screw the country over, pander to dictators, or enact draconian laws to oppress us.

Picture this: we declare our independence from imperialists who gleefully support countries that massacre and starve innocent people using our hard-earned taxpayer money. These leaders love to stand on stages and pontificate about democracy and peace, all while their actions abroad create nothing but chaos and suffering. How convenient for them to sit in their air-conditioned offices, sipping overpriced lattes, while children halfway around the world—and right in our streets—starve.

The UK prides itself on being beacons of freedom and human rights, yet we continue to fund violence and oppression under the flimsy guise of foreign policy. With one hand, we sign off on arms deals that fuel wars, and with the other, we pat ourselves on the back for our so-called humanitarian efforts. Independence? More like an exercise in cognitive dissonance.

And let’s not forget the circus right here on our doorstep. Children in our wealthy nation go hungry—a testament to governmental priorities that are clearly on point. Homelessness is on the rise, a glaring reminder of how we really take care of our own. Healthcare, once the crown jewel of our nation, is now a crumbling relic. Thousands are denied access to essential services, abandoned by a system that values profit over people. The sick and suffering are left to fend for themselves, their cries for help falling on ears stuffed with cash. Independence? Sure, if you’re independent from any semblance of decency.

The bitter truth is glaring: Our so-called leaders have failed us. They prioritise power over principle, greed over compassion. They wave the flag of independence while shackling us with policies that betray the very essence of freedom.

So, what must we do? We must vote strategically and tactfully to elect leaders who genuinely represent our values. Leaders who won’t support dictators or implement oppressive laws. Leaders who will fight for justice, both at home and abroad. It’s time to replace those who pander to the powerful and perpetuate corruption with those who will stand up for the rights and dignity of all people.

Let this General election be our wake-up call. Let us reclaim independence from those who have twisted its meaning for their own gain. By voting with purpose and intelligence, we can usher in a new era of leadership that won’t screw over our country or its minorities.

Leadership that doesn’t support foreign dictators or enact draconian laws. Leadership that embodies the true spirit of freedom and democracy. Only then can we claim to be truly independent. Only then can we dream of a future where no child goes hungry, no family is without a home, and healthcare is a right, not a privilege. It’s time to redefine independence and fight for the real freedom we deserve.
