Liberal Democrat MP, Alistair Carmichael, has tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) calling to “scrap the Prevent strategy in its entirety”.

The EDM also notes that Prevent is “no longer fit for purpose” and “that the British Muslim community has been particularly stigmatised by Prevent”.

MPACUK welcome Mr Carmichael’s comments – now we need more MPs to support his calls for an end to Prevent which has impacted the Muslim community so severely.

Get your MP to support and sign the EDM – even though EDMs are not always debated in Parliament, signing this one will help draw attention to how strongly Muslims feel about Prevent and that we are demanding our MPs represent us properly on this issue.

1) Go to theyworkforyou.com, put in your postcode to find your MP and send them a message (or go to writetothem.com) and demand that they sign EDM 425

2) Share this Action Alert with your family friends – if more people contact their MPs it puts pressure on them to publicly come out against Prevent.

3) If your MP refuses to sign then tell MPACUK so that we can publicly name and shame them (and send messages of support and praise to those who do sign the EDM)
